I started 2014 with a pair of shmup soundtracks, so why not continue with another themed pair? To accompany last week’s Dungeons of Dredmor here’s a soundtrack I waited a long while to hear. From Danny Baranowsky and Grant Kirkhope, Desktop Dungeons.
Danny Baranowsky is a big name in video game music, having written for Super Meat Boy, Canabalt and The Binding of Isaac. Grank Kirkhope is no slouch either, with Kingdoms of Amalur, Viva Pinata, Banjo Kazooie, Perfect Dark, Donkey Kong 64 and GoldenEye under his belt. Together they have put together a remarkable album in Desktop Dungeons. The style is instantly familiar to fantasy fans but is so well executed it grabs you and takes you along for an enjoyable ride; 25 tracks of atmospheric, evocative music utterly suited to the parent game.
